Waste Management
Chennai Corporation and ITC Limited have come together for a very novel way of managing waste and reusing it. Their efforts should be applauded. Under this scheme each household gets a polyethylene bag to collect paper and plastic waste. Each household will be paid Rs.3 per kilo of paper waste and Rs.2.50 per kilo of plastic waste. This waste will be collected from each household every fortnight. This waste will be recycled by the company, and in this way reduce the burden of the garbage collected in the city’s dumping grounds, and bring down pollution levels to some extent.
